Ticket sales from our productions simply do not cover the Trust’s costs to carry out our multi-faceted mission. The Trust covers operating expenses of the theatres and the “guarantee” promised to an artist or show producer in addition to labor, musicians, security and insurance. The artistic vision of the Trust includes the commitment to bring productions that educate and challenge us; as well as our pledge to provide classic entertainment. Community support allows us to:
- Program our stages with diverse productions, from Broadway to concerts of many styles of music, comedy, dance and expert speakers in literature, science and adventure;
- Offer education opportunities and provide free access to the theatre for those who might not otherwise have the opportunity;
- Maintain and preserve the Trust’s three historic Hennepin Avenue theatres, the State, Orpheum, and Pantages;
- Work to make Hennepin Avenue, the Hennepin Theatre District and Downtown Minneapolis the vital, historic, and culturally significant community that helps define the Twin Cities.

- It costs $59 for each student to participate in the Trust’s annual SpotLight Musical Theatre Program. There are approximately 3,000 students in 2009, so we need to raise over $175,000!
- A single LED light in the Pantages Marquee costs $25 to replace and there are 1,000’s of lights in all three marquees.
- The 2007 Orpheum Lobby renovations which included upgraded services stations and improvements in heating & air conditions exceeded $1.5 million! All three theatres require constant attention to remain active.
- The Trust is planning to capture the stories of generations of theatergoers through a historical documentary of the State, Orpheum, and Pantages Theatres. We have just begun to raise the $150,000 in start-up costs!
- The Trust is launching a new website this summer to engage more people in our community. Estimated costs are nearly $40,000.
